We head to Okotoks to start off our trip with a couple nights with Grandma and a visit with the Vancouver crew. A day of ice cream, hamburgers and river play was filled with fun.

Family camp Day 1

We spend the am getting settled and getting things set. We get gas, we get wifi. We check out the visitors Center and then just hang out for a bit. We originze our fishing gear and do some laundry. Marlo, Scott, Gryf, Twyla, Rorie, Alana and Mom arrive around 2pm and we all set up camp. Everyone splits for a couple hours. Rorie and Twyla go on search for wifi to update Kevin on our location. Scott, Kai and Griffin go and check the upper lake and do some fishing. Marlo and Mom go scout the upper lake day use area for Dads celebration tomorrow. I stay back and prepare tacos for dinner. After dinners there is some serious card games before we head to the interpretive Center for another show. We have a little campfire and then all head to bed. The stream beside us lulls us to sleep.

Alberta Adventures

We wake up cosy in our sleeping bags with the morning light shining through our teepee. So sweet. It’s still smoky, but it doesn’t bother us. We wake and start the day with our classic camping breakfast - cream cheese and ginger stuffed French toast with maple sausages. We pack up and stop off at the new camper registration building to use their new hot showers before heading back to the interpretive Center. They use as as guinea pigs for a new activity they are offering and we take a trip in a York boat on a trailer around the site. Kai get some more VR time in, we visit the Metis trapper cabins and the First Nations tent were they are working with porcupine quills. We take off around noon for our next destination the sunflower maze. The sunflower maze was jut getting going, so the blooms weren’t as spectacular as we had imagined. Dia Cinco

Another mellow mellow day. The morning is piled with fruit. So SO good! I am grandma’s chef while we are here. She is happy to have a breakfast filled with her favourite frutas. We share one meal with both cases each day, Marlo and I alternate cooking those larger shared meals. They boys play non stop in the pool and then play a serious game of Monopoly with Grandma while Twee, Gareth, Mar and Rorie head to Tulum to do some shopping. I went for a little solo bike ride to the beach while the boys went to play in their jungle civilization and grandma had a dip in the pool. Then we seista. We all seems to absolutely love seista time. No complaints from anyone for taking some solo time. Marlo makes gluten free pizza with a massive salad for dinner. Then we have the most amazing fruit salad for dessert with papaya, mango, banana, watermelon, lime, oranges and pineapple. Yum yum yum.
